How does this rum taste?
Most reviewers are drawn to Papalin Jamaica High Esters for its vibrant blend of esters and tropical fruit notes—especially pineapple—which offer the classic Jamaican funk without overpowering. Aromas fill the room instantly, and buyers love the balance of youthful energy and round, fruity character. Many enjoy it as both a sipper and mixer, with standout value for the price. Worth buying for ester-lovers seeking a lively, genuinely Jamaican profile.

#4870 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, faint wood, fruity, light citrus, spice, light roasted, light pineapple, faint floral, ester. Palate Warm, round, balanced, faint wood, light roasted, light citrus, light banana, spice, naturally sweet, medium dry. Finish Medium long, fresh, round, fruity, light citrus, faint chocolate, medium dry, faint smoke, ester. This one is slightly better than the lower ABV release and it shows how flavours change when you add water.
So far, the Papalins have not really convinced me across the board. The Jamaica High Ester changes this a little. A young Jamaican that offers fine fruit notes, light cookie dough, toasty, wood and a subtle smokiness on the nose. Dry on the palate, pineapple, citrus fruits and spices. The medium-long finish is a little weaker. However, it remains dry throughout and offers plenty of ester.
Another nice Velier Papalin bottling. I was able to try it first as a special MaiTai at DomM. Not bad on its own either. I would rather classify it as an easy sipper, but for the price it's more than okay for in between.
