How does this rum taste?
Planteray MLC Foundation Rum, crafted at Jamaica's Clarendon distillery, is an enticing limited release aged for 23 years. Selected by Maison Ferrand, this rum boasts a respectable 51.5% ABV. Tasting notes suggest a vibrant nose with prominent fresh, fruity, and tropical fruit aromas, including pineapple and woody undertones. The palate features an intricate mix of pineapple, dry woodiness, and fresh overripe fruit flavors supported by hints of ginger, rubber, and spices. Known for its balance and complexity, it offers a long, flavorful finish enriched with floral and herbal touches. #4935 Whisky Live in Paris 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Another great event meeting a lot of RumX new and old friends. This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Fresh, round, fruity, light wood, faint roasted, pineapple, light citrus, faint leather. Palate Fresh, round, light wood, light leather, faint rubber, overripe, banana, faint citrus, faint ginger. Finish Long and warm, light wood, medium dry, fruity, light pineapple, faint leather, faint rubber.
This MLC is a solid stunner for me. The explosion of fresh tropical fruits, red berries, and a hint of melon on the nose just pulls you in. The palate is beautifully balanced with juicy notes of mango, dates, and figs, all draped in a touch of honey. My only gripe? Why isn’t this at cask strength! With a bit more ABV, this could’ve hit legendary status. Still, what a beauty, a true fruit bomb that leaves you wanting more. Honestly, it’s the kind of rum I’d love to have a full bottle of at home.
Solid 2001 Clarendon without any major rough edges. Delicious.
