Un rhum qui s’est totalement imprégné du fût de sherry. Le nez est très fruité, évoquant le raisin sec, la groseille et la cerise de ses notes douces, liquoreuses et alcooliques. Le fût apporte également beaucoup d’épices qui amènent un profil très concentré, presque lourd pour les narines. C’est pas mal mais attention à l’overdose de sherry. Le constat en bouche est sans appel avec une nette domination du fût de sherry, notamment avec les arômes sucrés et caramélisés, les fruits secs (raisin), la cerise, les fruits confits mais aussi les épices (vanille, piment, poivre). Le rhum est sous l’emprise totale du fût, qui se veut certes gourmand mais trop envahissant. Il en résulte une perte de complexité et de profondeur en bouche. L’alcool est présent avec le sherry mais plutôt bien intégré. La finale est d’une longueur convenable, absorbée par les notes tanniques, les fruits secs, le boisé rôti et épicé et une touche mielleuse presque visqueuse. La finale est concentrée, sèche, pas désagréable mais pas non plus surprenante. Un rhum mauricien qui a du potentiel mais le vieillissement a beaucoup trop altéré le profil originel.
