How does this rum taste?
On Tour N°6 (Salon du Rhum 2024) is a limited edition from Trinidad's T.D.L distillery, bottled by Swell de Spirits. Distilled in 2003 and aged for 21 years, this rum offers a complex flavor profile. Tasting notes reveal dominant woody, minty, and fruity characteristics, with subtle caramel and yellow fruit accents. The aroma is marked by caramel, mint, and woody nuances. This cask-strength rum, at 57.8% ABV, is balanced with a medium to long finish, praised for its creamy texture and tropical fruit influences. Despite mixed reviews on complexity, it remains a sought-after collector's piece due to its rarity of just 320 bottles.

Nose : From the very first sniff, it’s a tropical fireworks display. Picture a festival of mango in all its forms: liqueur, syrup, freshly sliced, and thick, rich jam. Add a splash of pineapple, a hint of papaya, and a soft embrace of ripe banana. It’s vibrant, exuberant, and unapologetically exotic—pure tropical power. Palate : The party continues, with mango, guava, and papaya still leading the dance, but this time with a zesty kick. Bergamot and lime zest deliver a sharp, refreshing burst of acidity. It’s bold, fruity, a bit provocative, but that’s part of its charm. Then, fresh mint makes an appearance, with a whisper of licorice to spice things up. In short, fun is guaranteed! Finale : Long, effervescent, and full of freshness, the finish leaves a cooling minty breeze, with a subtle hint of wood. The tropical fruits keep performing in the background, elegant, with just a touch of funky flair.
But what a surprise, and what a treat 🤩🤩 This TDL is superb. For once, the menthol is very discreet in favor of the fruit, which explodes on the palate. A touch of "heavy" that I really like 😍😍 A must-taste 🤩🤩🤩
