Romdeluxe Hampden Wild Series Rum Jamaica MJH3 2012
Most enjoy its balanced, low‑ester Hampden profile with tropical fruit and caramel. Critics find it a bit flat and hot neat. Consensus: solid, enjoyable, not a standout at higher prices.
Fans of Jamaican rum who prefer a gentler, low‑ester Hampden with tropical fruit and caramel, and who don’t mind adding a little water to open up a cask‑strength sipper.

How does this rum taste?
Gentle, low‑ester Hampden at cask strength
If you like the idea of Hampden but find high‑ester bottlings too wild, this gives you a calmer, fruity take at cask strength that really opens up with a splash of water.
Beginners sensitive to high ABV or drinkers expecting intense Hampden funk and big power for the asking price.

#4950 02.11.2024 Had a great tasting with Kim from Romdeluxe with both old and new releases. Nose Light, fresh, light ester, fruity, light wood, faint smoke, sweet, light menthol, faint vegetal. Palate Smooth, light, light wood, faint roasted, fruity, light pineapple, sweet, light vegetal, light caramel, light menthol. Finish Medium to long, light wood, light citrus, faint caramel, light menthol, light chocolate, faint floral. A pretty nicely balanced release where the ABV is hardly felt at all.
14.4.2025 - rom de luxe rum tasting at the Prague bar Casa de la Havana Vieja in the presence of Kim Pedersen, organized by Pavel Unger.
3rd place and thus the last place of my small MJH3 tasting. This one was very flat, not very powerful, the finish shorter than the competition. Top as a daily sipper, but not at the current issue price!
Aftertaste GRF Nose initially fruity but without the typical Jamaican funk. Light leathery notes on the palate with little sweetness. Quite alcoholic, for me too alcoholic and peppery. Not positive but not negative either, rating is like the rum, meaningless 😀
