How does this rum taste?
- Intense tropical aroma
- Well-integrated alcohol
- Smooth despite high ABV
A1710 La Perle Brute, distilled in 2018 at the Habitation du Simon in Martinique, showcases the island’s rich heritage. Crafted from sugarcane juice using a pot still, this rum offers a vibrant nose of sugarcane, lime, and pepper, leading into floral and citrus flavors with hints of peach and fruit schnapps. Despite its 64.1% ABV, users find it surprisingly smooth, with the alcohol well-integrated. The finish is notable for its peppery, bitter citrus peel notes. While lauded for its aromatic intensity and warm palate, some wish for greater complexity. An enticing option for enthusiasts seeking bold profiles.

"A rum with character and a well-structured, straightforward aromatic palette. Very drinkable!"
"A very intense fruity-floral nose. Honeydew melon and lychee, lightly fermented. The sweetness of freshly pressed sugar cane. The 60%+ hit the palate quite hard, of course. At first it comes across like a grappa or a fruit brandy. Much more tart than the nose. Some bitterness from tangerine peel. Citrus. Both also remain in the finish. I like the smell (very close to Madeira) better than the taste."
"A most elegant rum, very pleasant and refined on the palate. The palate is marked by the bitterness of the citrus fruit, but the ripe pear and the vegetal aspect of the rose soften the whole a little. This rum may lack complexity, but you can feel all the work that has gone into it, and it's very pleasant."
"Un nez fruité et floral. La bouche est un peu en retrait."
