"Won a sample set of the 4 new Sea Shepherd from Kirsch. THANK YOU 🙏. Here is the 5 year continental matured LROK rum from an Oloroso cask... Nose: intense blend of esters and sherry. Sweet and sour passion fruit, pineapple and banana with yellow lemon and sulphurized apricot. Goes out the back towards pencil shavings. Ester and sherry go well together, even if I'm not so keen on sweet-sherry finishes. 8,2 Palate: nice and intense, a successful blend of esters with glue and tropical fruits like passion fruit and pineapple. Lemon and gooseberry are also present. The sherry cask clearly brings strong sweet and sulphurous aromas. Has a slightly bacony effect. Not bad at all for what it is (young and Oloroso). 8.0"

"For tasting as a sample directly from Kirsch. Hampden power right from the start! A young LROK with plenty of steam. Blind, I would perhaps have thought it had a little more to offer than LROK does. In addition to the usual Hampden aromas and a hint of sherry, I'm particularly surprised by the fat bacon note. I've only seen this intensity of smoke, almost like smoked meat, in a few bottlings from Hampden. Nevertheless, it remains a young Hampden with a sherry finish, of which there are unfortunately very many. But I like it better than many others!"
