How does this rum taste?
Delias Tropical Rum Cat from Trinidad offers a complex blend of flavors, distilled from molasses at the T.D.L distillery, and aged for 17 years. Bottled at cask strength with a robust 60% ABV, this limited release of 360 bottles delivers notes of toastiness, nutty caramel, and milk chocolate on the nose, while the palate reveals woody, spicy, and roasted flavors with hints of fruitiness. User impressions suggest a moderate sweetness, reminiscent of bourbon-like elements, though opinions on its complexity and natural attributes vary.

The surprise of the tasting evening. Initially disappointingly ordinary and somewhat pungent on the nose, the rum develops more and more into a smooth distillate with strong hints of mint chocolate, especially on the palate. For me, the best TDL of the mixed 2006 vintage. Very well done, Delia!
It tastes like bkend of weak TDL and Rumbullion! rum = definitely infused and lightly sweetened. So I do t believe it is pure distilate...
Now finally tasted it again in peace. I actually already had this with Piotr and Marta (Precious Liquors) at the GRF at 3am in the hotel bar, but then lost all memories (the bottle was probably empty 🤣). What I have to say from what I knew at the time, it definitely closes you down. Now I would say it's quite good, but it also needs a good amount of time in the glass.
