The "Steampunk 5" was produced in Fiji at the South Pacific distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Zéro Nine Spirits. It was distilled in 2015 from Molasses with a Column Still and then aged for 8 years. The rum is bottled at cask strength and has an ABV of 60,9%. This is a limited release and there are only 195 bottles. 9 community members rated this rum with an average of 7.3/10. "A very pleasant nose to start the discovery of this rum. Glue, caramel, vanilla, tropical fruit and wood blend harmoniously. Very inviting! On the palate, the alcohol is a little biting on the first sip. Then ripe, caramelized fruit. Lots of greediness. Peppery vanilla finish. Correct length. The taste is not on a par with the particularly pleasant nose. But a nice selection."
"Unfortunately not a typical Fiji profile. Rather boring, young fresh oak barrel with lots of vanillin. Not much else."
"At first sight, the nose is pleasantly dessert-like, with vanilla and fruity (yellow) notes. The alcohol comes on gradually, but is not too invasive, and the first taste remains in the same vein as the nose, i.e. gourmand. But the alcohol, with its almost acidic spiciness, quickly takes over in a rather lasting way, leaving an alkaline and anaesthetic impression. The vanilla gradually reappears, but a little too late for my taste. Quite an exercise to drink it, alcohol too present for me."
