How does this rum taste?
The 8 Marks Collection (1 year) LFCH rum from Hampden distillery in Jamaica is distilled from molasses using pot stills and aged for one year. With a robust ABV of 52%, this rum offers a distinctive blend of intense esters and tropical fruits like pineapple and green apple. Although praised for its fresh tropical notes, it also has challenging nuances of petrol and varnish that make it polarizing. While some users appreciate its complex bouquet and subtle wood influence, others find the medicinal and alcoholic undertones overpowering. This rum offers a unique tasting journey that may appeal to those seeking bold and unconventional flavors in a short-aged Jamaican rum.

Hampden 8 Marks Collection aged 1 year in ex-bourbon casks. This time the second lowest ester level of the LFCH. However, I don't like it as much as the OWH. It comes across as too medicinal. You can feel the alcohol very clearly.
