How does this rum taste?
- Light and easy to drink
- Fruity and pleasant aroma
- Smooth vanilla and honey notes
The "Traditional Rum" from Trinidad's T.D.L distillery, bottled by Valinch & Mallet, offers a unique experience. Distilled in 2009, aged 14 years, and bottled at 51.3% ABV, it presents vanilla and baking spices on the nose. Users noted its syrupy, woody palate with hints of vanilla and sugar. Although it diverges from typical T.D.L profiles, it is considered light, fruity, and slightly sweetened, resembling a Foursquare style. Some find it lacks complexity, featuring an artificial sweetness and a light finish, but it remains a solid choice for those exploring diverse rum profiles. Ideal for those seeking an easy-drinking rum.

"Round TDL, nice velvety texture. It lacks the recognition value and the edges, but the rum has a high quality."
"I can't quite put my finger on what it is about this rum that bothers me. Is it the artificial sweetness? Or the unexpected absence of mint? The rum isn't bad, but it's not really good either. It just doesn't deliver for me, especially not as a TDL. Too bad."
"#4751 22.06.2024 Nice tasting afternoon and evening with Hannes at the shop in Odense. Nose Light, fruity, faint roasted wood, peach, banana, faint mint, light nutts. Palate Warm, round, light wood, spice, faint mint, orange, light peach. Finish Medium to long, light wood, fruits, faint mint, light nutts."
"Unspectacular nose that almost turns slightly unpleasant - flat aromatics with a strange note that reminds me of cardboard. The 2009 profile of TDLs with a strong minty influence that we have learned so far is missing here; it would be interesting to know which marques (or blends?) TDL uses in its portfolio. Here we have ended up with a thin distillate reminiscent of Spanish style instead of the powerful aroma bomb. The viscosity, which brings an oily density to the palate, is enjoyable and initially pleasing thanks to a sweet note reminiscent of vanilla syrup; after that, however, the taste becomes very thin, a little wood, subtle spices, hardly any adhesion in the finish - a shame. The alcohol is well integrated, but even this cannot compensate for the weaknesses in the aroma profile. Too bad."
