The "R2.18 Sticky Spice Cake" was produced in Guyana at the Demerara Distillers Ltd distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. It was distilled in 2004 from Molasses and then aged for 18 years. The rum has an ABV of 59%. My first ever sampling of rum from The Scotch Malt Whisky Society - and to me (as a whisky drinker) this literally smells, tastes and finishes like a Cask Strength version of Glenfiddich 12 year old Green apples/pears Malted Barley Slight oak notes and oak spice That’s pretty much all I get - as a whisky drinker I enjoy this…. Ironically it’s because it smells, tastes and finishes like a scotch whisky and has next to no rum notes at all. It’s pleasant enough for me to enjoy this sample and I would like the chance to get this bottle but wouldn’t make special efforts or priorities to get it Personally? As a rum it’s a complete swing and a miss but as a rum masquerading as a whisky? VERY well done
