By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Almost transparent, this rum resembles an old Jamaican stale diluted with herbs, a light funk and tropical fruit. On the palate, the alcohol is present, then some fruit, green apple and mirabelle plum. And then that's it. Like an extreme dilution of aromas. The fruit saves a lacklustre finish. Absolutely no Caroni here, not on the nose, not on the palate, not even in the empty glass. My first "Providence", a total disappointment for a Caroni fan, but not a bad rum, just without depth or relief.
28.03.2015 Whiskymessen Out for myself this time and met up with new enthusiasts and we had a great party after the event. Notes Light in colour. Nose Light, light wood, mint, herbs, light fruits, plum. Palate Thin, diluted, light wood, plum, dried fruit, light mint. Finish Short, light wood, thin, diluted, dried fruit, light mint.
The nose identifies it as rum. In the mouth, however, very little comes through due to the proper reduction. Tastes like gummy bears soaked in water. Not very sparkling and not identifiable as Caroni. It's perfectly drinkable, but has no identity for me.
Herbal water. A little mint flavor in the middle of the tongue. Unfortunately extremely watery, but 40% rum from "back in the day", that's how it was. A nice rarity, but nothing you have to drink.
