The Wagemut Connecticut Shade (Aficionado Collection) is a Jamaican rum selected by independent bottler N. Kröger and distilled from molasses with an ABV of 42.8%. A blend of tropical and fruity aromas with funky esters, it delivers a fruity palate, punctuated by vinegar and apricot notes. The sweetness of the profile appeals, though, to some, it feels overwhelming. While it's praised for being beginner-friendly with a smooth alcohol integration, many note an imbalance due to excessive sweetness and acidity. Ideal when paired with a cigar, this rum leaves drinkers divided on its harmonious execution.

"Aprikose trifft auf eine ziemlich dominante Essig-Note. Angenehme Trinkstärke. Interessantes Experiment."
"In der Nase schöne fruchtige Ester Noten, könnte ein WPE sein. Am Gaumen dann wieder zähflüssige, süße, likörartige Konsistenz, extrem rund, durch die high Ester trotzdem viel fruchtiger Geschmack, vor allem Pfirsich und Aprikose, aber durch den Zucker natürlich sehr glattgebügelt. Abgang mittellang. Für Einsteiger sicher ein guter Rum."
"Auch hier wieder sehr enttäuschend. Die Nase verspricht noch einen kräftigen, leckeren Hampden mit viel Ester. Geschmacklich dann eine Recht irritierende Säure... Mal nachlesen: wurde mit dem Kastanien Fass Finish mit Aprikosen mazeriert. Schmeckt für mich quasi wie ein high ester Jamaica Rum der mit Aprikosen Essig geblendet wurde. Von Chestnut cask finish merk ich hier nix und generell verstehe ich nicht warum man hier noch Früchte in den Rum panschen muss.... Schade."
"Bottle Market Bremen Oktober 2024. Dieser Wagemut ist nichts, mir persönlich viel zu fruchtig (tropische Früchte). In der Nase dann auch viel zu fruchtig für mich. Etwas Essig ist auch zu erkennen. Egal, Hauptsache probiert ;-)"
