Nose is fairly alcohol forward but with clear sweet and woody notes. Leaving the glass for a while I can detect caramel/maple syrup like smells and subtle tones of herbs. Taste is dominated by alcohol, barrel and sweet undertones. The nose of the empty glass is quite complex and pleasant with fruity, sweet and herby notes. Probably the best part of the rum.
