"I would not count myself as a card carrying member of the Appleton fanclub but I decided to pick this up since it was getting fanfare and was only available in Canada. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Caramel, vanilla, oak, spice and fruit on the nose and palate. Quite solid for a 43% ABV rum."
"Most reviews on this bottle state that this is a toned down Appleton 8, which is true, though I don’t view that as a bad thing—I love Appleton 8 for very different reasons and came to this bottle with a much different expectation. This is Appleton 8 for those that love a well-aged, sweet Speyside. Presumably finished in Glen Grant 18 barrels as Joy Spence has stated it as her favorite Scotch & it falls under the umbrella of their parent company. Appleton 8 Double Cask is less brash, more delicate, and more complex. It is more floral and contains more stone fruit and apple notes blended in with the classic Jamaican tropical fruits. Sweet, malty notes carry into a medium length finish, much longer than the core Appleton 8. For $33 a bottle, I find this a steal."
"First ever Appleton, and while it's the tamest Jamaican I've tasted so far the flavor is still outstanding and complex. Familiar funky notes but not overwhelming and blends with the overall flavor. Huge fan!"
