Old Brothers Hampden High Proof HJF 2008

Eine wirklich schöne Hampden-Abfüllung! Intensive Aromen, perfekte Balance und ein wunderbar eingebundener Alkohol. Reife Ananas, feine Ester und cremiges Holz verschmelzen harmonisch. Im Verlauf entfaltet er sich immer weiter und mündet in ein langes, fruchtig-süßes Finale mit Karamellnoten.

Kleines Old Brothers Jamaica X-Tasting: Insgesamt alle von sehr hoher Qualität und im Geschmacksprofil ähnlich. Im Vergleich zum anderen HJF 2008 (RX12021) minimal schwächer, da die wahrnehmbaren Aromen zwar identisch , jedoch nicht so stark ausgeprägt sind. Abgang herrlich, aber auch nicht so unendlich lang wie bei den anderen.

Waouh quel hampden ! Tout est présent pour nous embarquer dans l univers de cette marque avec une belle concentration. L alcool est très bien intégré. De beaux Esters, de l ananas bien mûre , un boisé fondu. J adore son évolution pour arriver à une fin longue et douce de fruit et caramel.

Another HJF mark rum in the glass. The rum did sit in the glass for a good while but it didn't bring up any new notes. On the nose: Tropical fruits, Light esters, glue, citrus and little bit of woody notes. Nice balance and roundness in the overall palate. Taste: For a high proof rum the abv is integrated very well. Esters, glue tropical fruits with citrus notes. Then you get acidic, sulphur notes and barrel notes. Little bit of pastry notes in the end. Finish: Slightly acidic. Woody, estersand citrus. Finishes off with light sulphur and glue notes. Yet another great HJF mark rum. I liked the lower proof 2002 HJF mark better for its complexity, but i still like this rum very much. This mark should make a comeback in the Hampden lineup.

8,7:On the nose, esters, glue, some rubber, fermented overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus and red fruits, briny olive, intense, funky, roasted, smoky wood with confectionery, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the rum becomes creamy with dairy, cream toffee, vanilla, rotten, vinegar pops out, the molasses is grassy, herbaceous, fresh with tea.After a while, the notes are caramelized...So, let the rum breathe... 8,6:On the palate, the attack is concentrated, funky with esters, fermented, overripe tropical, red and citrus fruits, later some of them are candied, briny olive, slightly sulphurous, the oak is roasted with cream toffe, pastry, spicy with allspice, as the molasses is flowery, perfumed.Some soap and plastic hints arise, when the rum is well oxidized,...also some rotten notes. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, slightly tannic, balanced with various roasted wood notes, spicy and smoky, fermented notes and perfumed, minty molasses, fresh with tea.

Almost feels like it has a good chunk of tropical aging: it has a dark feel to it. Obviously it has the classic Hampden profile. Surprisingly this has less dryness than RX12021 (HJF 2008) and RX11172 (HJF 2002). The 2008 has a slightly different profile. This rum takes first place among these 3 even though the others are not far behind.
