La Confrérie du Rhum Stade’s Rum JAWS Barbados
A high-ester, funk-forward rum more reminiscent of Jamaica than Barbados, bursting with pineapple, citrus, and a tangy edge. A bit young and sharp, but makes for a lively tasting or a bold mixer—one to try if you like ester-heavy and tropical spirits.
Unexpected Jamaican-style funk, bursting with pineapple and citrus.

How does this rum taste?
- Sehr fruchtig und intensiv
- alkohol ist wirklich gut integriert
- macht Spaß
Stade’s Rum JAWS Barbados is a young pot still rum that really throws you with its "fruchtig, süsse Nase: Blutorange, Grapefruit, Dosenananas, Lychee" (@Gregor) and copious esters—not what most expect from Barbados, more like a Jamaican funk bomb. Pineapple, tropical fruits and citrus leap from the glass, but on the palate, opinions split: the fruitiness sometimes gives way to more dryness, wood, and a touch of bitterness. Many agree it’s "super spannend! Hätte ich blind klar auf Jamaika getippt" (@Johannes) and the 56% ABV gives it some warmth, though the youthful sharpness, short finish, and touches of "Limette und Zitrone ganz vorne" (@Frank) stand out. The strong esters and bright citrus make it a mixing favourite, but purists find themselves waiting for more depth.

"Edit: Tried it again in a freestyle tiki, it's definitely a lot better there, so it's been adjusted upwards a little. How should I start? Blindly, I wouldn't guess Barbados but Jamaica. Gives a nice ester taste. But what I personally find annoying is that I have such a sugar taste on my lips afterwards. Unfortunately, this makes it too sweet for me, more like a liqueur, spiced rum or definitely with dosage. Even though it's not supposed to have any dosage. Unfortunately, that breaks its neck, I probably had too high expectations."
"A rum tasted at Rhum Fest Paris in 2024. A rum raisin nose with lots of tropical fruit, esters, spices and pepper. The palate is elegant, with plenty of fruit. The finish could be a little longer, marked by citrus peel. Good value for money here. But don't delay, there are less than 1,000 bottles available."
"still distilled on the Vulcan chamber (in batches). On the nose, I'm at low ester Jamaica, with candied fruit, spice, fermented fruit, chutney, plus a little green vegetable. Similar on the palate: candied fruit, vegetal notes."
"Young and fresh with lots of esters on the nose plus citrus fruits, kumquat and yeast. The intensity increases on the palate and a hint of dirt is added. Not like the Caroniwerkstall but more like crazy Clairins. Or even better: like really good mezcal - slightly smoky! The finish is slightly bitter, blood oranges and licorice. Not bad and gives hope for further exciting bottlings!"
