"This is one of the rums I have probably had the most of over time. A rum developed in 1911 and used in many mixers, which is where i learned about it in my teens way back. Not a super good sipper when you're used to the better Barbadian rums, but a very good choice in mixers. Have many memories both good and bad about this rum 🤣 Many a hangover have been traced back to this particular rum."
"Neutral alcohol with rum notes. Suitable for cola, but there are better ones. Characterless supermarket rum."
"JoA beautiful base distillate. Has something of pastry with light fruity notes. But not yet harmonious. I'm used to better from English distilleries. Good value for money. Very good for mixing."
"The nose is a bit sharp but past that there are some pleasant floral notes along with some generic wood, vanilla stuff. The palate is quite sweet but light in other notes. More vanilla and oak from the nose. A touch of smoke and ginger on the finish though it doesn't hang around for long. It's not unpleasant and you can see how with a bit more time this will become something like Mount Gay Black Barrel. It's not there yet though. Too much young, industrial tasting column still lightness going on. Cheap though."
