How does this rum taste?
- Caramel-forward taste
- Nostalgic curiosity
- Unusual flavor profile
Ron Jamaica Superior is a Jamaican rum distilled from molasses and bottled by J. Selga Torras. With an ABV of 40%, it presents aromatic hints of molasses and caramel, with burnt and popcorn undertones. The flavor profile leans towards caramel and molasses with roasted nuts and hazelnut, alongside a noticeable alcoholic note. Users appreciate its historical curiosity, likening it to the Spanish rum style. However, some criticize its thinness and perceived artificiality, noting the burnt caramel dominates the taste. This rum may appeal to enthusiasts interested in exploring mid-20th-century Jamaican bottlings but lacks the depth and complexity often associated with contemporary Jamaican rums.
"Verkostung von Niki und Arturs Aventurien Teil 2. Besten Dank für die Möglichkeit diese alten Kuriositäten & Raritäten zu probieren! 😊 Nr. 1 Bitter, verbrannter Karamell, etwas Mandel. Wirkt sehr dünn. Vermute, dass der Rum nicht alt und eingefärbt ist."
"A rum from the "Niki's und Arturs Jamaiksnische Aventurien Teil 2" series. The nose is not at all Jamaican, more molasses and bitter caramel. On the palate, the impression is of wood, but on analysis it's more the mixture of molasses and bitter caramel that gives this sensation. The finish is rather long, but still on the same flavors. A rather one-sided rum, but rather pleasant, as Spanish rons can be."
"Colored unaged rum from the 50s. Some caramel, hazelnut and molasses on the palate. Everything points to Spanish style. Could also come from Central America. Overall very watery and undefined."
"Very much burnt caramel forwards throughout. Nicer than contemporary unaged and colored rums but not outstanding besides this."
