How does this rum taste?
- Kaum grasige Agricole Noten
- Alcool dangereusement bien intégré
- angenehme süß-saure Fruchtaromatik
Isautier Wild Nature Series 2011 is a reunion agricole that leans heavily into bold cognac, roasted nuts, and woody spice, balanced by flashes of dried fruits and subtle vanilla. There’s a strong cask influence throughout: "Die Alterung im Cognac-Fass ist hier von Nase bis Abgang allgegenwärtig" (@Skyfly), while others pick out "vielschichtig und komplex" layered notes (@Fuwi). The cognac barrel leaves its mark, sometimes outshining the agricole base, with a dry profile and a touch of bitterness in the finish. It's pleasingly complex for some, but the integration of alcohol and a certain dryness can divide opinion.

To Isautier
"A great rum in my eyes. I love the Velier Isautiers and this one goes in exactly the same direction. Hardly any grassy agricole notes, more a hybrid of molasses and sugar cane juice. The cognac cask comes out positively and provides the sweetness. For me, this is one of the top bottlings from Swell."
"Significantly fruitier and more intense than the Isautier from Velier. Great exotic profile with a lovely sweetness!"
"Parallel tasting RX19571 and RX20906 Neither is much different and neither is outstanding. In my opinion, they don't come close to the classic from Velier (RX10631). If I had to choose, Le Gus't would have the edge because the alcohol is better integrated than in the Swell and it also tastes a little more like wood and cognac, which I'm always up for."
