How does this rum taste?
The 1991 Guadeloupe rum from Damoiseau distillery is an 18-year-aged agricole rum distilled from sugarcane juice, showcasing complex notes of wood, leather, and dark fruits. Its aromatic profile features vanilla and dried fruits while the taste carries hints of licorice and cherry, embraced by a smooth, hearty body. With an alcohol content of 54.4%, it leaves a long-lasting, slightly bitter finish accompanied by spices. Users appreciate its dark, full-bodied characteristics, making it a treasured selection for rum aficionados. The integration of vintage elements with an elegant, powerful nose makes it stand out among agricultural rums, providing an experience redolent of roasted oak and subtle fruit nuances.

Really heavy nose with dark fruit - cherry in particular stands out. Toasty, slightly bitter, yet fruity. Great mouthfeel with a pleasant, natural sweetness. I really like it!
This one is not as potent as its predecessor, but still pretty good. The nose is woody with fruits and candied vanilla. Trailing behind i find licorice and some vegetal and earthy notes. The palate is full bodied with wood and fruit followed by molasses, vanilla and licorice. I also find some vegetal and medicinal notes. The finish is medium to long with wood and dried fruit trailed by vanilla and licorice.
Magnificent on the nose, magnificent on the palate, in the end all that was missing was a slightly more successful finish to take it a step further. But if you like notes of coffee, chocolate and wood, go for it!
