I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
This rum from Crucial Drinks has clear similarities with Clarke’s Court Old Grog also produced by GDL. The nose is fruity with aromas of banana and citrus. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s fruity and spicy with flavors of nutmeg, banana and citrus.
The rum is very fine-sparkling in the glass. The nose is complex, fruity, spicy with a slight adhesive note and a light woody note. The taste is dominated by coconut, vanilla, slightly alcoholic and with some sweetness in the background. The finish is medium, peppery with vanilla and some sweetness, plus floral notes. This rum is not exactly dry but not really sweet either, somehow in between. I wouldn't have expected something like this, something different.
Has a caramel, vanilla aroma. Peppery, sweet taste. A little tangy on the finish. Much lighter over time. The spiciness dissipates quickly. I really like it quite a lot.
Not particularly well integrated alcohol and a rather artificial coconut note...
