How does this rum taste?
Papa's Pilar Dark Rum (USA, Hemingway Rum) leans hard into dessert territory: caramel, chocolate, and sweet vanilla all make frequent cameos, often joined by coffee and spice. For some, it's "one of my go to and absolute favorites" (@Jon Bolton), while others call out an "intensivní a dlouho trvajici chuť" (Michael Janek) with a gentle bite. Many agree it's noticeably sweet—the kind of rum that could work as a relaxed sipper or in festive cocktails. The bottle's story gets a nod, but opinions split on the finish: short for some, a bourbon-like note for others.

The taste burns a little on the tongue at first. It's sweet, but not as sweet as the scent. You can taste caramel, cinnamon, dark sugar, vanilla, licorice and a little oak. Medium aftertaste. A good relaxed rum, especially for lovers of sweeter rums. It’s quite smooth and good for casual sipping.
Again, quite thin, alcoholic and quickly gone. Toffifee with a little raisin and banana.... Unimportant, unfortunately.
Nachtrag: heute in der Friendsgivingrunde auf den Tisvj H gestellt: einhellige Meinung: geiler Rum und perfekter Bourbon Abgang. Never drunk before! Ich bin absoluter Rumliebhaber. Aber als Bourbon Fan eine tolle Hommage an Hemmingway als Rum. Mein absoluter Favorit aktuell!
Tasted this one at a rum cruise at the Baltic Sea. Nice bottle and story around it. It’s quite sweet, but the 43% ABV makes it balanced. The representative told me it was a blend consisting of rum aged between 4 and 25yo.
