How does this rum taste?
The Single Cask Trinidad Rum is a striking expression from the T.D.L Distillery, bottled by independent bottler Chorlton Whisky. Aged for 13 years and presented at cask strength, it offers a bold aromatic profile of toffee, butterscotch, roasted coconut, and a distinct alcoholic punch. On the palate, our RumX community has noted layers of vanilla, herbal nuances, black tea, coffee, and a refreshing hint of mint. Its character is both complex and approachable, with classic TDL traits that work well both as a sipping rum and a dynamic mixer. The limited release nature adds extra allure, encouraging rum enthusiasts to explore this unique offering available on our marketplace.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 260,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.

A TDL on the dark side of power. Concentrated but complex on the nose. The picture continues on the palate. Menthol only comes out at the back and discreetly in the background. Anyone looking for classic TDL notes with lots of mint will be disappointed here. For all neutral rum fans, the rum is definitely interesting. I'm satisfied, as it also works very well in a Cuba Libre, where its 64.2% makes quite a splash.
Comparison with the T.D.L from Chorlton RX18983 and Roots RX20517. Roots: very intensely fruity. fruits of all kinds in the nose and on the palate, which appear increasingly candied on the palate. a typical T.D.L mint note plays around the whole. the finish is medium-long and unspectacular. a great T.D.L, which is looking for its equal in palatability. - 87 points. chorlton: also a typusch fruity 2009 T.D.L. proful, a bit dirtier, frücjte are overripe, with more earthy and towards the finish also mineral flavors. -82 points. I really like the 2009 T.D.L! If the alcohol had been better integrated in both, they would have scored more points. I'm curious to see what else will come.
Sugar and spice. A real firecracker. Easy drinking and some great spice. Interesting rum. Classic TDL notes, menthol and green pepper. It’s enjoyable but nothing unique or worth buying a full bottle. For the price an good value option.
Smell very sweet but pleasant with red fruits. The taste is very sweet, but still ok. With honey herbs, mint just a hint. The ABV is briefly pungent, but after a few sips it becomes rounder. Personally, I expected a bit more for a 2009, but it's still ok.
