    How does this rum taste?

    Intense ester aroma
    Distinctive whisky influence
    High alcoholic strength

Rum Artesanal Burke’s Elements Feuer is a distinctive rum, selected and bottled by Heinz Eggert GmbH. Distilled from molasses using pot and column stills, it boasts an ABV of 59.8%. Users describe it as having a powerful ester and marzipan aroma with hints of pineapple and tropical fruit. The palate is uniquely complex, with notes of peat, smoke, bacon, and whisky coming to the fore. The Jamaican origin is evident, yet the whisky cask influence with smoky undertones brings a unique "fire" element. User opinions vary, with some appreciating the harmonious blend of flavors, while others find the balance between the fruity esters and smoky peat to be less than ideal.

So I can't find the connection to the topic of fire and the whisky casks for myself. But that doesn't matter, or maybe it's even better that way. I like it very much. And even more so for the price. If you like this style of rum and the rum you tested is also this rum.

At first I'm confused: the label on the bottle states the alcohol content as 59.6%. On my sample, however, it says 69.8%. Coincidentally, exactly the same as the Elements Water. I guess the intern wasn't paying attention! The nose immediately reveals the Jamaican origin. Hampden esters without end! However, I mustn't smell too deeply into the glass - the alcohol hits me hard! At most, I can only detect a hint of smoke on the nose. The start on the palate is incredibly strong and the smoke is there too! Less medicinal but more in the direction of a campfire and fortunately not overpowering. After the smoke, there are flashes of sweet oranges. Overall very impetuous and sharp-edged. The influence of the whisky cask becomes even clearer towards the finish - but does not dominate the impression. As with many young Hampden bottlings, the finish is long but quickly loses its intensity. Although I'm not usually a fan of whisky-rum hybrids, I think this bottling is a successful experiment. The whisky influence remains subtle and underlines the "fire" in the name with the smoky note.

High ester meets smokiness. Interesting to have tried, but doesn't really grab me.
