Blind tasting: the nose reveals this rum to be a lighter, sweeter candidate, which in all probability should come from a column still. Caramel, vanilla, toffee and a little oak. The alcohol is then noticeable on the palate - very powerful at around 60%. After a standing time of just under an hour, the unpleasant alcoholic sharpness disappeared. I suspect an age of about 10 years, perhaps a little younger. The impression from the nose regarding the column still idea is confirmed by the palate - the sweetness is also present. However, it is not a normal Spaniard or what one associates with a Spaniard. It is a little more mouth-filling and also has a spiciness that I only know from rums from Belize. It's more like a column still rum from the UK. This rum reminds me most of the Mount Gay XO Cask Strength. 78 points
Alkohol ist nicht perfekt eingebunden. Untypischer Caroni.
In the nose green apple, but not so tangy fresh but rather quince. A slight soapiness. Metallic. Slightly cookie dough. And vanilla with a hint of lemon balm. Strong attack on the palate, a wave of flavors you can't keep up with. And then it's all over again. Spicy sweet, licorice. Lovage remains. Balanced overall.
Nose is very sweet. Taste is not impressive. This is definitly a ‘light’ Caroni.
