“#4735 05.06.2024 A nice afternoon with Michael and a few good rums. Nose Fresh, intense, light wood, peach, fruity, herbs. Palate Fresh, intense, light roasted wood, fruity, herbs, light chocolate, light citrus, light honey. Finish Medium to long, warm, spicy, medium dry, fruity, faint chocolate. The empty glass had nice herbal notes to it. Very well balanced considering the age of the rum.”

“Respekt, der schindet Eindruck..für sein junges Alter kommt er mächtig selbstbewusst daher… an der Nase kräftige Esteraromen, Honig, tropische Früchte und Holz. Am Gaumen verteilt er sich cremig und ölig und wartet mit würzig holzigen Aromen auf, ergänzt durch Honig und Frucht (Stachelbeere). Im Abgang setzt sich der Holzeinfluss fort, verbunden mit Würze und minimaler Fruchtsäure. Gelungene Abfüllung!”

“Beim zweiten Streich vom Honigdachs bleibt der Abfüller seiner Linie treu und haut aromatisch auf die Pauke. Diesmal sogar noch einiges mehr als beim Ghana Rum. Was einem nun besser gefällt muss jeder für sich selbst entscheiden, für mich hat Fabian noch eine Schippe drauf gelegt. Interessant ist das Experiment mit dem Virgin Oak. Bekanntermaßen steuern diese neuen Fässer schnell sehr viele Fassaromen bei. Vorallem in der Nase sind jedoch die fantastischen Fruchtnoten erhalten geblieben. Dann tauchten sie kurz ab, um dann im Finish wieder durchzuscheinen. Ich habe natürlich den Reifeprozess nicht mitbekommen, würde aber sagen das eine viele längere Zeit im Fass den Rum nicht besser gemacht hätten und er wahrscheinlich auf seinem Peak aus dem Fass geholt wurde. Und es lässt mich freudig in die Zukunft blicken was Rum aus Fiji betrifft, denn es scheint ein guter Jahrgang zu sein, von dem hoffentlich noch einiges in anderen Fässern schlummert.”
