The "Zodiac 2023 Capricorne PM" was produced in Guyana at the Demerara Distillers Ltd distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Famille Ricci. It was distilled in 2011 from Molasses with a Pot Still. The rum has an ABV of 63,3% and the mark is PM. Oh well, unfortunately I can't drink the rum. The whisky cask is full of strong peat/meat/campfire aromas. You can't really taste PM anymore.
Un rhum très fumé qui plaira aux amateurs de whisky tourbé et de mezcal.
Ce Guyanais est l'un des rhums les plus difficiles d'accès que j'ai pu goûter. Si au nez nous sommes sur des marqueurs typiques des rhums de la Guyane, avec ses esters bien présent, rempli de tabac froid, de goudron et autres pétrole, la bouche possède tout ce que j'aime pas chez les whiskys de type Islay. L'alcool est bien intégré malgré ses 63° et quelques. Il y a un côté fortement tourbe fumée, iodée, qu'on retrouve sur un Talisker ou un Lagavulin, qui précède des marqueurs de vieux cuir, de boîte à cigare. A l'aveugle, je n'aurais jamais cru que je buvais un rhum. Pas du tout ma came et je n'ai pas pu finir mon verre.
Very smoky overall. The nose is quite dark, with notes of caramel, toasted wood and, above all, intense smoke. This aspect is even more striking on the palate, which might even be mistaken for a mezcal or a smoked whisky. Very interesting, though, for a change.
