“A rum tasted at Rhum Fest in 2024 and with friends. The nose is very nice, with a balance between the woody, dark flavors and the fruity, pastry side. The palate is a little behind, with the same aromas but a little less balanced. The finish is long, with beautiful bitters counterbalancing the pastry side.”

“Lösemittel, Frische, etwas Gebäck und getrocknete Früchte. Würzig und nussig. Perfekt ausgewogen, Kraft entspricht den 46%. Wunderschöne Nase!😀😀😀 Im Mund dann viel Pfeffer, Karamell und Holz. Etwas wässrig. Der Abgang ähnlich, es kommt eine parfümierte Note dazu. Ein sehr guter, süffiger Agricole. Leider verspricht die Nase mehr als im Mund abgeliefert wird. 😎😎😎”

“Naja, diesem J.M kann ich nicht soviel abgewinnen. Ister in der Nase noch relativ angenehm fruchtig „lieblich“, verliert er am Gaumen doch recht deutlich. Zu dünn und verwässert kommt er daher… die Aromen kommen kaum zur Entfaltung … aber am meisten stört mich eine Fehlnote… irgendwie parfümiert seifig 🤷🏻 das ist so gar nicht meins”

“Un superbe JM qui a tout pour plaire. Le nez est d’une grande finesse, représentant parfaitement l’ADN de la distillerie : beaucoup d’épices (cannelle, muscade, vanille, réglisse, poivre, clou de girofle) qui agrémentent le profil, légèrement pâtissier sur les fruits confits et le caramel, avec des fruits plus tournés sur le vin (raisin) et l’eau-de-vie. Un profil chaleureux, sensuel et attrayant. On retrouve au palais un rhum plaisant, fin et d’une belle intensité aromatique pour son degré d’alcool. Les épices fourmillent aux côtés des fruits secs, confits et exotiques. Le milieu de bouche est très ouvert sur les notes torréfiées de noisette, de chocolat et de noix. Les notes pâtissières (toffee) poursuivent leur chemin vers la gourmandise. On ne ressent pratiquement pas de verdure dans ce profil chaleureux, équilibré et terriblement rond (et bon). La finale est longue, tout aussi subtile et savoureuse avec ses épices, ses fruits confits et secs (raisin, abricot), et surtout ses notes grillées légèrement amères. On décèle une légère brise florale qui accompagne le caramel et les pâtisseries. Elle laisse une belle empreinte au palais et un très bon souvenir de dégustation. Un rhum de haut calibre pour ce compte d’âge et ce degré d’alcool, qui n’a pas à rougir face à d’autres cuvées plus premiums.”

“Now I'm glad I resisted the "want to have" until I was able to try the sample. It doesn't convince me at all. Thin on the nose, thin on the palate, short finish. Too little of everything, just too much wood for its age. The very first impression on the nose is still very interesting, right after lifting the cap. But then there is nothing more, as if all the aromas are sucked away with the first breath. The only thing that helps is to put the lid on and wait a little before the next sniff.”

“Delicious nose with smoke, fruit (grape, prune, candied fruit) and licorice with wood. On the palate there is also a lot of nut and chocolate. But the aromas are somewhat fleeting and short and the rum - for my taste - a little too thin.”

“Nice agricole, but overall not convincing. the nose is still nice with some wood, licorice & fruits. Nice fresh grass on the tongue. But a bit thin and unround on the palate, paired with a short finish. Also gets bitter towards the end.”

“The nose is initially very woody, but you can immediately tell that the profile is different from what J.M. has been releasing lately. Here, there are prunes, a smoky woodiness and a sensation of fruit brandy. On the palate, I'm surprised by the roundness of the rum. Chocolate, hazelnuts. Very sweet. The alcohol is very discreet. Nice because it's different, but a little too round for my taste.”

“On a blind taste test, I'd have gone straight for a St James Éphémère. Very pronounced oak on the nose, but well integrated on the palate, A real fruit brandy, with some dried fruit, Sweet spices and a hint of nutmeg amidst roasted hazelnuts (or almonds?). Almost invisible alcohol, it's a pleasure to drink, you just have to like wood.”

“An der Nase hat er für mich zunächst etwas Apfel, wie bei einem Calvados. Am Gaumen ist er dann wirklich schön rund, mild und süffig, mit Aromen von Apfel, hellen Früchten, Creme Brulee und etwas Keksteig. Sehr angenehm zu trinken, easy sipper. Mit etwas mehr Umdrehungen wäre wohl eine höhere Wertung drin gewesen.”
