How does this rum taste?
La part de l’Ange (Sélection Spéciale Gabriel 2009 2010 2012 2013) is an elegant Martinique rum from the La Favorite distillery, crafted from sugar cane juice and matured 10-14 years, featuring a 43% ABV. This limited release offers a rich blend of vegetal, citrus, banana, vanilla, and woody aromas, with a taste profile highlighted by peppery, woody, toasted, and vanilla notes alongside dried fruits. Users appreciate its complexity and smooth finish, though some note a vegetal dominance and short finish. A tribute to a retiring master blender, only 4400 bottles were made, increasing its collectible allure.

By rum lovers, for rum lovers
I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 46,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
The nose is elegant and fragrant, with sweet dried fruits (dates, apricots, figs), vegetables, young wood, hazelnuts, pastry, citrus. The palate maintains the same aromas with vegetal dominance (even something earthy) and added pepper. The whole round with little depth and body, a short, but delicious finish
I was lucky enough to be on hand to taste this jewel when it is released in December 2023.
I had the chance to taste this beautiful bottle in Martinique when it was released, it's very good, smooth, round, the blend is well chosen even if in the end it doesn't reach the quality of a lulu privilege.
