How does this rum taste?
- Balanced fruity notes
- Harmonious sweetness
- Smooth taste profile
The Trinidad HTR is a 1998-distilled rum from the renowned Caroni distillery, aged for 25 years. Bottled by The Rum Cask, this high-proof rum (62.5% ABV) delivers a unique blend of fruity, oak, and rubber aromas, complemented by caramelized, dark chocolate, and tar notes on the palate. Despite being from a well-known distillery, some reviews highlight its lesser-intensity compared to other 1998 Caroni releases. However, its fruity complexity and balanced sweetness have been appreciated. It offers a milder introduction to Caroni's characteristic profiles, suitable for those seeking less “dirty” or “rubbery” traits and a more harmonious drinking experience.

To Caroni
"First impression: Unfortunately, I didn't really get around to analyzing this one in peace due to all the bottling of samples. But the first one is already very good. I think it will be corrected. Edit: Tasted again in peace after the bottle had quite a lot of air. Developed very well. But still made a small downward adjustment."
"Nice nose with some dirt, smoke and a lot of fruits. Very intense fruity notes on this barrel. On the palate: sweetness, cacoa, some dirt and again a nice touch of fruityness. Very good 98 cask imo."
"Intensely fruity affair. Great nose, heavy sweetness, compote-like fruit combo. In comparison, less workshop aromas than other bottlings. Good overall picture and very tasty. Blind, I don't think I would taste any difference here to a <20-year-old Caroni."
