How does this rum taste?
The Raw Cask Rum, distilled in 2003 at the Diamond distillery in Guyana, is a limited edition offering bottled by Blackadder. This 14-year-aged rum, with an ABV of 63.1%, boasts an intriguing aroma of fruit, spice, and ester with a fresh alcoholic undertone. Its taste profile is highlighted by earthy, warm, smoky, and spicy notes, complimented by herbal undertones. Tasters appreciate its balanced complexity yet favor more straightforward iterations. While some savor the fruity, gourmand nose and smoky palate, others find the taste slightly soapy. Overall, it represents a unique Guyana-style experience, best highlighted by its limited release of 260 bottles.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Very intense and inviting nose. Lemon tart comes directly to my mind. Wow, I could sniff this forever. Then explosive, spicy and slightly salty on the palate. Very nice balance of freshness and barrel influence!
07.05.2019 Enjoying some samples at home. Colour Light in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, faint smoke, fruits, light mineral, light olive, light floral, spice. Palate Light, light wood, light roasted, oily, spice, light banana, faint gasoline, faint floral, faint honey. Finish Medium long, light wood, oily, spice, fruits, light floral, faint caramel.
Wow, nice Guyana profile in the nose spicy fruity with light alcohol. In the mouth then spicy, salty with typical herbal and tea notes. I can taste a piece of the barrel ;) Alcohol super integrated nice spicy finish Delicious!
The nose is greedy and pastry! We have a beautiful burnt sugar pie with fruitiness galore (plum, raisin, candied fruit ...). The whole is perfectly balanced and harmonious. In mouth, we are less on fruits (except cherry) but more on spices with a more earthy and salty profile. And we find smoked notes! The finish is fine on spices and woody with a touch of saltiness. My faith it is fresh and light, but I preferred the 2008 10 Y to this 2003 14 Y. Even if it remains a nice reference.
