I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 25,000 bottlings, 270,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 50,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.

While the finish may raise a few questions at first, this Sampan still has its charm. The nose doesn't get off to the best of starts, with a heavy, liquorish cherry supported by dried fruit, spices strongly influenced by vanilla, caramel and honey. The resulting sweetness is even slightly nauseating. On the palate, the cherry is replaced by a drier, fuller rum. The sugarcane juice stands out more, with a herbaceous, citrus, woody and spicy edge. The profile is more authentic and preserves its finishing aromas. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is perhaps the most accomplished, combining both the versatility of the Sampan and the sweetness of the finish. Spices are lifted, accompanying vegetal and woody notes, while dried fruit and cherry stroll along with citrus. A lovely expression of Vietnamese terroir that plays on the possibilities offered by aging.
Vůně lehká svěží a spíš ovocná s bylinkami. Nevědět, že to je po bourbonu, tak bych to dle chuti tipoval na sud po koňaku. Chuťově je to spíš na Agricole straně ve srovnání s verzemi po koňaku a portském. Působí to hrubě. Možná to chtělo nechat víc dozrát.
I loved the nose , very fruity, fresh. Mouth is also nice but disappointing, I expected more but it certainly comes from the ABV. The final is short and is more herbal, vegetal.
