Overall an interesting and quite powerful rum, “Fuerte” means powerful, with lots of similarities to Agricole rum. Btw, I’ve heard that Spain wants to change the EU-regulations around agricole so that even the Canary Islands officially can produce agricole. I tasted it at Herida Brands stand at the Stockholm Beer & Spirits Fair 2023. This rum, Tres Hombres Ed. 62 “La Palma Fuerte”, from the Aldea distillery in La Palma, Canary Islands, is made from “guarapo" which is sugar cane juice. The rum was then collected by the cargo sailboat Tres Hombres in 2022, then aged for 10 years. Onboard at sea the rum spent 6 months in barrels earlier contained Sherry Oloroso, Moscatel and Porto Tawny. Back in Amsterdam it’s blended and married for some more time before bottled in 1336 bottles at ABV 44%.
