“Un nez de fruits jaunes et de mirabelle avec un fond de pneu/caoutchouc. Des épices et du bois de cèdre (boîte à cigares). La bouche est étonnement douce, là aussi marquée par les fruits, fruits secs et toujours les fruits jaunes et la mirabelle. Un côté cuir et toujours le pneu de vélo/caoutchouc. Pas mal de bois aussi mais du côté cèdre et pas vraiment envahissant. La finale est longue et équilibrée entre les fruits et le caoutchouc. Les fruits sont aussi très présents ici. Un rhum équilibré et plutôt fruité avec assez peu d’atelier mécanique pour un Caroni de 1997. À coup sûr un bon rhum, équilibré, malgré son prix de vente très attractif. J’ai pourtant l’impression d’une dilution (malgré l’ABV de presque 61%) qui l’amaigrit un peu.”

“Good representation of the 97 profile. Well balanced and enjoyable focusing on woody and dirty notes rather than fruits. While the alcohol is very well integrated, complexity could be a bit more intriguing. So it sits compfortably in the middle of the 97 vintage for me.”

“I ordered the bottle as a Black Friday deal from Master of Malt. I was rather skeptical, but at that price I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of dark and tart tones emerge from the glass. Mostly wood & spice though. Fruits are present, but only really perceptible after a longer standing time. Typical Caroni DNA is present. I would have liked more fruit for a higher score.”
