How does this rum taste?
The "Jamaica" rum, selected by The Colours of Rum, offers a unique blend distilled in 2008 and aged for 14 years. Originating from Jamaica, it harnesses an ABV of 58.9%. Users noted its complex aroma of tropical and dried fruits with hints of pineapple, mandarin, and varnish. The taste features a blend of tropical fruit, ester, and vanilla, with a sweet and barrel-infused finish. This rum is praised for capturing Jamaican rum's signature profile, making it an intriguing choice for enthusiasts. However, some find it unbalanced due to its sweet, sour, and salty elements.

The bottled vintages and distilleries raised some expectations. I have to say, I really like the bottling. It's impossible to tell exactly what's in it, but it tastes absolutely like Jamaica DNA and everything it needs to be. The slightly tangy ester note is reminiscent of NY. A good blend.
I thought Hampden distillate was overpowering the other ones before realizing there's no Hampden in there 😅 The nose is welcoming but the mouth is harsh and the flavours quickly vanished to let place to a very woody finish. Not my thing.
Guter Rum, aber eher auf der bitteren, adstringierenden Seite.
