To Caroni
"A rum tasted at the WLP. Fruit, lots of fruit on the first nose, with a slight diesel and metallic edge. The palate attacks quite strongly, then quickly fruits, diesel and the same metallic side as on the nose. The finish is on wood and a light menthol that refreshes, it's long and the notes of machine shop arrive in force with wintergreen. A Caroni of fruit and freshness."

"Accessible Caroni with a nice sweetness and fruitiness. Creamy and rather on the not so dirty Caroni side."
"A lively, lively Caroni with a lot of scattered aromas. The nose is rather atypical: while we find the usual empyreumatic and hydrocarbon notes, pastry, dark chocolate and tropical fruits join the festivities. Even more surprisingly, a few floral scents titillate the nostrils. An original profile in the Trinidad landscape. On the palate, the rum is more conventional, with flavors of oil, smoky wood, spices (chili, licorice), dark chocolate, dried fruit and tobacco. The hints of pastry on the nose are much more muted here. A drinkable Caroni, with well-integrated alcohol. The finish is long and typical of Caroni from the 1998 vintage: powerful oak, strong empyreumatic notes of smoke and tar, bitterness on leather, cocoa and licorice, followed by subtle hints of dried fruit, nuts and pastries. A good Caroni overall, with a truly atypical nose, it's a pity that the palate and finish lack that little touch of fantasy. The price is always debatable, but compared with other bottlers, this Caroni Sponge comes off with flying colors."
