Whisky AGE Hampden The Whisky Blues Pure Single Jamaican Rum JMD 1997
Highly praised classic low‑ester Hampden: fruity esters, ripe banana and pineapple, well‑judged oak and tannins, complex yet very drinkable with excellent alcohol integration and a long, slightly astringent finish.
Fans of classic, low‑ester Hampden who want a mature, fruity cask‑strength sipper with good balance rather than extreme funk; also appealing to whisky drinkers exploring aged Jamaican rum.

How does this rum taste?
Mature, low‑ester Hampden classic
If you enjoy balanced, fruity Hampdens like younger LROK/HLCF bottlings, this keeps the tropical notes and funk but adds mature oak and tannins at a very drinkable cask strength.
Those sensitive to high ABV or expecting ultra‑funky, high‑ester Hampden explosions and very layered complexity at this age.

What a great Hampden, reminds me a lot of the RC 1992 HLCF (RX10260). Fruity Esters, loads of banana and pineapple ,vanilla, wood and some salty olives. It also got a lot of tannins which make it a little astringent while being sweet and fruity at the same time. Great combo and it is definitely on the right side of a thin red line. Overall a complex and very balanced drop. Thanks to Venomino for the sample!
A Hampden to my taste. Lots of tropical, overripe fruit, esters, glue, marzipan on the nose and beautifully intense on the palate. Perhaps a touch too bitter on the finish, but otherwise a really great bottling.
A very well-balanced Hampden that is also suitable for beginners. It can be classified in the lower ester range and is well balanced with delicate fruit, sweetness, woodiness and spice. It contains no surprises, which is very positive in this case
