It doesn't taste 100% natural to me, the caramel note is very intense, perhaps more due to the addition of coloring etc. This would also explain the sweetness, although it is supposed to be an unsweetened rum. For mixing, and that's what it's made for, it certainly serves its purpose. I can also imagine it in tiki drinks, but I will stick to products where I am sure that there are no artificial additives.
Very sweet, lots of pecan and maple in the nose. Very alcoholic.
