“The nose is deceivingly mellow and smooth with mild fruit and sugar cane juice notes. The attack of the taste is a harsh ethanol burn and underlying sweetness that tastes like white sugar diluted in tap water. The midpalate is crisp, bitter, and oaky like a virgin cask. The burn slowly subsides in the finish, only to showcase an extreme lack of character, like a spotlight on an empty stage. Price aside, the rum is comparable in taste to Bacardi white. It is marketed as a rum for cocktails, and it’s no sipper, but the bottle alone was worth it to me.”
