This Chamarel Special Reserve is an exceptional XO Extra Old Rum from the island of Mauritius. It was obtained from the sugar cane juice of the Rhummerie plantations and matured in French oak barrels for at least 6 years. This was followed by an 18-month finish in Sauternes (sweet wine) barrels. The French white wine from Bordeaux contributed to the unique personality of this rum. 8,5:Nose-typical Agricole with notes of tropical fruit, bit funky, spicy, some volcanique hints, before airing some notes of stinky clothes 😄. 8,7-palate: It is soft and yet does not lack strength and intensity. Fruity notes of apricots and a subtle nuttiness are accompanied by delicate honey and vanilla nuances. Extremely complex, warm spices with notes dried fruits, dates and hints of lemon and orange peel, peaches with a nutty note, which is a typical characteristic of noble Semillon.Well rounded and syrupy. 8,6:Finish-extraordinary smooth and long finish, palate notes linger on. Dégusté à l aveugle. Au nez ma grosse impression était d être en présence d un rhum agricole, je pensais même à un st James.La bouche m a enlevé cette idée. Je l ai trouvé plus doux et moins épicé /poivré. Mais l idée du pur jus restait. J ai des notes de fruits secs et noisettes torréfiées . Il est très facile à boire et laisse aussi une sensation sucrée. Il offre aussi une belle finale agréable. Il peut plaire à beaucoup de monde.
