How does this rum taste?
- Intense with wood and nice tropical fruits
- Fruchtig, holzig, Menthol
- Sehr intensive, kräftige Aromen
Clarendon's No. 38 MMW brings a complex mix of woody, menthol, and intense tropical fruit notes that RumX members highlight repeatedly. There's clear mention of 'Menthol, viel Holz, Recht metallisch' (crazyforgoodbooze) and a 'warm und ölig und fein fruchtig' mouthfeel (Gunnar Böhme). While the cask influence and power are present, the high ABV needs breathing time—most agree the 'fruits, wood, and minty spice' become more rewarding given patience. Some feel the integration of alcohol is solid, others note it's still noticeable throughout, but the long finish and evolving character keep experienced drinkers coming back.

To Clarendon
"Intense with wood and nice tropical fruits. Tropical aging definitely shaped the profile positively. Alcohol fairly present. Nice aged MMW. +0.1 point with the first hints of oxidation in the bottle"
"Yes, it can do something! Typical Monymusk, initially light esters, then just warm and oily and delicately fruity. I'll have to sharpen it up again: I can't quite keep the 84 points I just gave it, the rum is too peppery for that."
"Amazingly complex! Typical MM profile, rather round, but somewhat astringent, light fruit, light smoke on the finish."
"Third Clarendon of the evening. Clearly related to the previous MMW, but age has already played a big part. It's still very fruity, but the wood has given it a mentholated, gourmand side that attenuates the fermented side, even if it's still very present."
