J. Bally Pyramide 12 Ans
Highly praised aged agricole: dry wood, tobacco, spice and subtle fruits with well-integrated 45% ABV. Considered balanced, characterful and great value compared with younger Bally bottlings.
Fans of dry, woody agricoles who enjoy tobacco, spice and subtle fruit notes, especially those wanting a characterful yet relaxed 45% sipper that pairs nicely with cigars or dark chocolate.

How does this rum taste?
Balanced, woody, dry agricole sipper
If you like Clement XO or other classic Martinique agricoles, this is a great step up in age and wood influence while staying easy enough to sip regularly.
Those seeking sweet, creamy rums or very powerful cask-strength profiles; drinkers sensitive to dryness or dominant old oak notes may find it too sharp or thin.

The nose is quite bewitching, it's definitely old agricole but it's subtle. It's more appealing than the 3-year-old, which looks much older indeed. I'm letting it open up and more and more aromas are coming through. The vanilla is discreet, but blends well with the wood. It's fresh and old at the same time. With opening and agitation, a real tobacco nose arrives, along with other fruits. It's quite dry and original, and compared to the nose at the beginning, it's really worth letting it open up. The first mouthfeel is superb, with a real agricultural aggressiveness, very spicy at first, then a magnificent woodiness (...)
Weak, boring nose. Very spicy and unbalanced taste. Burns in the finish. I taste nothing of the 12 years.
Typical Martiniquais.woody and vanilla. It's not my favorite type of rum, but it's quite pleasant all in all.Edit: impressions confirmed on second tasting.
