The "Single Cask Rum" was produced in Fiji at the South Pacific distillery. It was selected and bottled by the independent bottler Duncan Taylor. It was distilled in 2003 and then aged for 10 years. The rum has an ABV of 53,8%. This is a limited release and there are only 231 bottles. 13 community members rated this rum with an average of 8.1/10. Super fruity flowery stuff. In the nose not unlike Jamaican/Hampden/Long Pond rum but also not a simple copy. More candied in the taste than smell.. Lots of tropical fruits. Some dryness/tannins in the taste. Even a whiff of peat. Sweet cinnamon. I simply love this. Many great flavours. Peppery aftertaste. Again those old Duncan Taylors were "bang for your buck".
11.04..2019 Enjoying some samples at home. Colour Light in colour. Nose Light wood, ester, faint smoke glue, fruits, light pineapple, spice, light licorice. Palate Intense, warm, light wood, ester, fruits, light glue, spice, faint smoke, light licorice, spicy, light citrus. Finish Long and warm, light wood, spicy, light varnish, light licorice, citrus, ester. Needs to rest for a good while to really open up.
A clean profile, a bit too clean actually. Pineapple, glue, lime and white pepper. The finish is fruitier, like warm apple compote.
very harmonious Fiji if you like sage, bicycle hose, nutmeg, cardamom and some honey. dry and smoky but not as much as I am used to from other Fiji's.
