How does this rum taste?
The Yehmon Retro Blended Rum by Samaroli is a refined blend from multiple distilleries across various countries, matured for 12 to 22 years. With a 49% ABV, it offers a bouquet of dried fruit, spice, and vanilla aromas. Its flavor profile is dominated by fruity and chocolate notes, with hints of spice and warmth. Limited to 979 bottles, this rum presents a complex mix of sweetness and earthy undertones, making it a coveted choice for both beginners and seasoned rum enthusiasts. While praised for its smooth integration of flavors, some find it less exciting than expected, yet it still delivers a rounded tasting experience with roasted and vanilla notes enhancing its finish.

Tasted at the Pueblo del Ron Nuremberg 2024 at Weisshaus. Unfortunately there were no other Samaroli to taste. Presumably the focus was more on rum nerds than nerds. The rum itself was more of a beginner's drop. Not outstanding
8,3:On the nose, largely melted vanilla with some banana spreads across the entire surface of the glass, in a clear, luminous, yet velvety and mellow profile. The American oak barrel gives us a tender fiber, like a blond tobacco scented with sweet spices and peaches. With aeration, the tobacco's soft, vegetal character melts and is amply diluted, pampering our nose with silky, perfumed notes. Spices return in small bursts, accompanied by nuances of red fruit, gradually building a more structured, intense profile. 8,4:The palate is quite powerful on the attack, so the rum rolls off the palate in a massive, round, warm rush. The vanilla and coconut milk, caramel has just come out of the pan, and is still burning hot, sticking to the wooden spoon, and likewise to the taste buds. Candied it becomes! The nougat forms and immediately melts, spreading hazelnut and toasted almond flavors. As we rest it, becomes a bit musty/ashy. We get a feeling of a dirt, so Trinidadian touch... 8,3:The finish offers a round, vanilla/honey that rolls over heavily toasted oak, is still a bit ashy and dry..
Blend is well executed with roasted and bourbon notes. ABV works well here. Not overly exciting, however.
Netter Blend - nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Geschmacklich geht er eher in Richtung Barbados.
