To Longueteau
"#4206 Wow, this is a bomb of flavours. I rested it for 30 minutes before giving it a go because it's pretty powerful when poured. Pretty fresh and intense with fruits and light wood and spice. I like the light smoky and marzipan note in the profile. The palate is dry and warm and pretty well balanced. The empty glass has some light coconut and nutty notes."
"The expression of the Genesis XO version changes radically from its predecessors. Whereas the amber and the old are particularly belligerent, this version is far more elegant and refined, while retaining a strong character. The nose offers a multitude of aromas of unparalleled sweetness: praline, marzipan, caramel, crème brûlée, hazelnut, chocolate, mocha and nutmeg flesh out the profile of great olfactory indulgence. Tobacco, smoky wood and fruit (notably dried and tropical) confirm a multi-faceted, highly pleasing profile. The attack on the palate reminds us that we're dealing with a rum at over 70 degrees. Smoky oak, chili and leather dry out the profile, which becomes livelier and warmer. Fruits, sugarcane and walnuts balance the whole, which is fairly homogeneous. The alcohol is well-integrated, but beware of taking a sip the wrong way. The finish, long, warm, intense and spicy, is the image of what this Longueteau has to offer: a rich and exhilarating profile, powerful and elegant. Vanilla and crème brûlée play off herbaceous and fruity notes to rise alongside spice and woodiness on the finish. A punchy yet well-crafted rum, which will nevertheless leave a bitter taste for its well above-average price."
"Alcohol integration is rather poor, both on the nose and on the palate, and is very present and fizzy. The bourbon cask is also very intensely aromatic and sets the tone. Basically aromatically exciting but also simply very tiring and demanding...."
"Exciting nose. Lots of bourbon influence. Interesting, but has too much spiciness for my taste."
