I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Edit: as I'm trying out the Easter calendar at the moment, I thought of it again and had to lower it again extremely Sorry, I don't even want to describe or analyze this one. This thing has nothing to do with rum. This is how I imagine it when I have to lick out an old peaty whisky barrel on the island after getting up. And that's not my thing at all. I'm really wondering if I still have a very artificially sweet rum somewhere to neutralize it. If you like whisky you should try it, but the rest of you should keep your hands off it. Edit: I also tried it again with cola and ice, but before I try that again, I'd rather buy another sweetened Jim Beam around the corner at the discount store, the better choice.
According to other reviews this is a very polarising rum. I'm curious. Tasted a slightly peated whisky before this. N: standard tropical funk/banana of WP. Young wood. Pencil shavings. A bit hot and bity. Not that different. A tad more woody. Taste: yeah okay this is weird. Sweet and syropy. Definitely a peated cask. Strangely light. Not so bad as some might think. The WP dna is still there, the mouthfeel is a off though. Some pepper in the aftertaste. All in all a nice experiment and probably an Islay whisky cask. Would have used this for blending. Still not as bad as some rated it. Very drinkable.
Hm... I would describe this bottling times as a nice try! Is but nichg really succeeded, tastes more on the whiskey side, but not particularly good
The nose is fruity and smoky. Actually still quite tasty. The whisky finish takes over on the palate and in the finish. But I've been drinking such strange/bad/interesting rum creations for the last 11 days that it doesn't stand out so negatively 😂 The nose pulls the overall rating up a bit.
