How does this rum taste?
Haitian Proof Rhum Blanc is a distinctive unaged rum crafted at the Barbancourt distillery, made from sugar cane juice with an ABV of 55%. Its aromatic profile prominently features green peppers, caramel, and floral notes, while its taste is characterized by vegetal and pungent flavors, with hints of copper and sweetness. This rum divides opinions among enthusiasts; some praise its bold and unique ester and aroma, which makes it a great value and effective in cocktails. Others find it overly sharp and metallic, particularly when sipped neat. Overall, it appeals to those seeking a complex, robust, and versatile rum for both sipping and mixers.

I'm Oliver – together with Jakob, Robert, and Lukas, we started RumX in 2018 as a small passion project in Stuttgart, back then under the name Rum Tasting Notes.
What began as a digital tasting diary is now the world's most comprehensive platform for rum fans: over 24,000 bottlings, 250,000+ independent reviews, and an active community with 47,000 members. We combine the collective intelligence of our community with an integrated marketplace, allowing you to shop securely and manage your collection directly from the app.
The goal? To offer you, the rum connoisseur, a place where you can choose with confidence—without paperwork, detours, or expert jargon.
Wow, this Barbancourt is very wild. Fermented fruit, herbal, sharp-edged and medicinal. It will probably present itself better in a cocktail than neat in a glass. Still very interesting, if it weren't for the spiciness.
On the one hand, unusual and exciting because of this light milky cappuccino, cocoa note. On the other hand, too sharp, too metallic/impure and unfortunately generally very "thin" and unaromatic. Almost meaningless in the daiquiri. Too bad.
My 1st blanc I like it a lot I can drink it neat or mix it a very good value rum
Unfortunately, this one didn't really convince me. It really is something special. For me, the paprika flavors are very dominant here and since I don't really like paprika, not my cup of tea at all. I'll try the rest of the sample in a daiquiri, maybe I'll like it a little better then. But not my cup of tea on its own.
