How does this rum taste?
- Great fruity nose
- Balanced flavor profile
- Appealing wood notes
Rum Sponge No. 21B, distilled in 2000 by Jamaica's Clarendon distillery, is a 22-year-aged molasses-based rum bottled by Decadent Drinks LTD at a 44.3% ABV. With a limited release of 146 bottles, this rum presents a complex profile dominated by woody and herbal aromas with hints of mango, sweet, and minty notes. The taste follows through with woody undertones complemented by vanilla, dried fruit, and a light touch of mango. While it lacks the typical Jamaican 'funk,' it appeals to those who enjoy a balanced, fruity sipping experience, though some find the lower ABV leaves it lacking in intensity.

"#4215 This is a pretty decent release though I would have liked a higher ABV. Something is missing because of the relative low ABV. Fruity with nice balance between the elements. The wood is not taking over even after so many years. Draws nice curtains and the empty glass has some light chocolate and coconut."
"Very pleasant sipper. Great fruity nose. Fruit and wood nicely balanced on the palate. Reduction a bit too much for my taste."
"Unfortunately, rather disappointing. Acidic, woody, herbaceous ... not my cup of tea."
"Câest loin dâĂȘtre le clarendon de lâannĂ©e. Câest pas mauvais mais trop rĂ©duit. Ca manque de peps. Du fruit, de lâherbe, vanille et bois, des Ă©pices Ă©galement, ça se boit bien mais jâachĂšterais pas une bouteille"
